According to the International Sleep Products Association’s Bedding Barometer (pay wall), a monthly sales report on the U.S. mattress industry, unit sales of mattresses and foundations decreased 1.2% in April, as compared with the same month in 2013. The wholesale dollar value of those units grew 3%, as compared with April 2013. The average unit selling price for mattresses and foundations increased 4.3% in April.
Year-to-date unit sales were flat when compared with the first four months of 2013. Both the wholesale dollar value and the average unit selling price of mattresses and foundations increased 3.6%, as compared with the prior-year period.
