With less than a week till Hanukkah and just 15 days until Christmas, gift-givers are getting anxious, if not losing sleep, about their unfinished shopping, and your store can help!
The time is ripe for attracting all of those gift-givers into your store. In fact, this week while browsing the sleep accessories aisle at a local department store, I noticed just how many fellow shoppers were squeezing pillows and pondering toppers. There were shoppers of all ages in the bedding department—from 20-somethings to pairs of parents and grandparents—their arms filled with standard gift assortments, from neckties to pajamas. Yet, they were gazing with new interest at attractively packaged memory foam pillows with gel inserts and at curvaceously wavy foam toppers, and other top-of-bed items.
It’s not too late in the holiday season to capitalize on sleep accessories’ new-found appeal as gift items.
Right now, you can create an eye-catching window arrangement of your store’s most inviting pillows, sheets and toppers. Don’t spare the tinsel. Then spread the word on your website, in social media and in this weekend’s newspaper insert, that when it comes to holiday gift-giving, your store has what it takes to spice up and finish up holiday shopping.
There are many holiday shoppers seeking to avoid the slippers-and-pajamas gift rut—and who wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of a premium pillow or luxurious bed linens?

Consider jazzing up your store’s holiday accessories offerings even more. Look no further than the crafters at Pinterest who are pinning great ideas for personalizing and customizing gifts. The site’s search function is vastly improved—now it’s easy to drill right down to, say, “pillow gift ideas”—and view pins of personalized gifts that begin with a pillow and some creativity. In your store display, you may want to include not just your most premium pillows, but pillowcases, permanent markers, stencils, simple appliques, ribbons and bows.
Have fun, and happy holidays to all!
