Alexium Inc., a performance technologies specialist based in Greer, South Carolina, has launched BioCool PL Plus, a phase change material designed to deliver sustained cooling performance across the full sleep cycle.

According to a news release, BioCool PL builds upon the foundation of Alexium’s proprietary BioCool microencapsulation platform with a newly engineered shell structure that reactivates faster and enhances thermal stability. The bio-based PCM technology is optimized for bedding and textile applications where long-lasting cooling and environmental responsibility are critical differentiators.
“With BioCool PL, we’ve redefined what bio-based cooling can do,” said Shelley Patterson, senior sales executive at Alexium. “Consumers don’t just want a cool first touch — they want comfort that lasts. BioCool PL makes that possible by resetting more quickly and keeping pace with the body’s natural heat cycles overnight.”
Company officials said that the launch of BioCool PL reflects growing demand among bedding and home textile manufacturers for natural performance technologies that go beyond passive claims. Key features of the BioCool PL PCM include a new shell design that enables quicker thermal resets, an extended cooling duration that maintains consistent cooling through the night, a sustainable 100% bio-based PCM and the versatility to be integrated into mattress textiles, foams, toppers and performance bedding, the news release said.
