Avocado Green Mattress, a Los Angeles-based organic mattress producer, announced that its entire line of adult, kids’, and crib mattresses has earned the EWG Verified mark, which is awarded to products that meet strict safety criteria and avoid chemicals of concern. Avocado is among the few mattress brands to achieve this standard for safety, transparency, and ingredient disclosure across its full mattress range.
Company officials say this certification highlights Avocado’s commitment to complete ingredient transparency, ensuring no harmful chemicals or undisclosed materials are present. The EWG Verified mark offers consumers confidence in choosing mattresses that meet rigorous safety standards in an industry where many health claims go unqualified or unsubstantiated.
According to a news release, for a mattress to be EWG Verified, it is required to include full disclosure of all ingredients and materials used in the product, use safer materials with lower VOC emissions, prohibit harmful chemical flame retardants and fiberglass, and use no PVCs or “forever chemicals” like PFAS.
Company officials say that, in addition to the EWG Verified mark, Avocado is the only mattress brand to earn three of the most respected health certifications, including Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for its full innerspring mattress and Made Safe, which ensures a comprehensive commitment to consumer health and environmental safety.
