Bedding, bath and apparel retailer Cariloha announced its latest class of intern retail recruits for its 2024 semester. A news release states that Cariloha’s internship program was established in 2009 as an initiative by Cariloha CEO Jeff Pedersen to attract top talent from across the United States.

For each semester of the program, the Sandy, Utah-based retailer hires approximately 100 interns and managers who are interviewed, hired and trained at the company’s Sandy, Utah headquarters. Then, the recruits are sent to Cariloha’s showrooms in locations in Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean to gain hands-on sales, inventory and marketing experience. They can also select additional tracks in social media or management development to develop additional skills during the program.

Interns also participate in Carlioha’s Sustainable Saturdays program, which partners with local teams for beach clean-ups and volunteer work. According to the company, a Certified B-corporation that verifies high social and environmental standards, this commitment to its communities around the world as part of its sustainable-minded business model.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have so many talented people work for us over the past 15 years,” said Dustin Tate, executive vice president of sales for Cariloha. “The interns strengthen their work portfolios and gain valuable experiences living in some of the most beautiful locations in the world — all while learning the frontlines of a retail and marketing company.”

The company states that it has more than 1,000 intern alumni worldwide. More than 40% of current showroom managers and employees at the corporate headquarters began their careers as interns at Cariloha.
