Mebane, North Carolina-based luxury bedding manufacturer Kingsdown Inc., has revamped its luxury hybrid Insignia collection featuring a blend of cooling gel and memory foam layers with a modern new look and feel that combines a special stitching technique with its patented Partner Plus Technology for an enhanced sleep experience.
According to a news release, the eight-model hybrid line is a departure from Kingsdown’s largely traditional line-up. It features a blend of next-generation comfort materials to regulate the surface temperature for a more comfortable sleep and is constructed with the Secure Stitch scroll quilting technique that stitches up to two inches directly into the top comfort layer to resist body impressions and improve durability.
To create the new line, Kingsdown Chairman Mike James said the product development team learned from its popular Zedbed brand specialty foam mattresses.
“Our goal in the revamp of Insignia was to use our experience with Zedbed to garner new floor space and capture retailers who might not have needs in our more traditional categories. As part of our design process, we began experimenting with the coils and foams on the surface to change the feel and we improved the construction story with a true progression of specifications as you move up through the line,” he said.
In line with Kingsdown’s Style + Substance approach to product design, the revamped program introduces a major innovation into the collection. Kingsdown’s patented Partner Plus Technology addresses one of the most common problems affecting sleeping partners—heat exchange. The beds in the collection include a strategically placed centi(GR)ade cooling strip down the center of the mattress to decrease heat transfer between partners. The Insignia line also incorporates individually wrapped coils and patented motion separation construction, which isolate a partner’s movements to provide undisturbed sleep throughout the night. The collection is available in a range of firm and plush models and ranges from $1,199 to $1,999, the news release said.
