Now, I heard that WithIt has a super exciting event coming up. Can you tell us a little bit more about it and why WithIt hosts it?
Amy Van Dorp
So WithIt is all about education, mentoring and professional development for women in the home furnishings industry. Our best event of the year, hands down, is our professional conference that is coming up in June the 10th to the 12th in Greenville, South Carolina.
Kathryn Greene
And you know who should come to this event? Who is this event for?
Amy Van Dorp
So this event is for any woman who is in the home furnishings industry. There’s just a very wide variety of people who come together. And it’s really all about networking, about learning how to be better leaders, managers. Just better employees.
Kathryn Greene
Sounds great. And you know, what can attendees expect during the course of this event?
Amy Van Dorp
So the networking really is the premier reason that we get together and we try to make it fun and comfortable and really create deep connections. So that’s, that’s the main reason.
Kathryn Greene
Amy, can you tell us a little bit about the speakers that attendees can look forward to hearing from?
Amy Van Dorp
They are amazing speakers. This year we have Portia Mount, who is a podcaster as well as an author of the book Kick Some Glass, and she’s going to kick off the conference. We will have industry leaders talking about what dynamic leadership means to them

And we’re really excited that our closing speaker is Ellen Taaffe. She is from the Kellogg School of Business, and she is going to talk about. You’re more ready than you think about women stepping up and taking that next big position.

Well, it sounds like an incredible lineup.

It’s going to be amazing.

So, you know, what can retailers look forward to with this event? Why should they come?
Amy Van Dorp
They will meet other retailers who are working in their businesses and be able to exchange ideas with them they will also meet a lot of their suppliers and their manufacturers that they may work with. It’s a way for them to find support maybe find employees among some of our students and also get some actionable takeaways for things that are happening in the industry.
