Former SSB Executive, ISPA Board Chair Scott Tinsley Dies

Scott Tinsley, former vice president of sales for Atlanta-based Serta Simmons Bedding LLC and former board chair for the International Sleep Products Association, died at age 70.
Scott Tinsley, former vice president of sales for Atlanta-based Serta Simmons Bedding LLC and former board chair for the International Sleep Products Association, died at age 70.

William Scott Tinsley, an industry veteran and longtime executive of Atlanta-based Serta Simmons Bedding LLC, died Feb. 28 in Naples, Florida. He was 70 years old. 

Tinsely’s career in the bedding industry spanned close to 40 years. A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, he began his bedding career as key accounts manager for Sealy Mattress Co. He spent five years as field and sales manager for Sealy and three years as national account manager for Simmons Bedding Co. For 22 years, Tinsley was an executive at Serta, where he held a number of roles, including vice president of national accounts, sales manager of national and key customer accounts for the United States and Canada, and vice president of sales. He also was an active member of the International Sleep Products Association’s Board of Trustees and served as chair from 2020 to 2022. 

According to an obituary written by his family, Tinsley was born on Sept. 23, 1954, had a generous spirit, a deep love for family and was passionate about the arts, live music and cycling. 

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bohman; children Ryan Tinsley (Mikie), Collin Tinsley (Cassie Syzmanski), Kevin Tinsley (Jeannette), and Chance Bohmann Moore (Baily Torres); grandchildren, Ronan, Molly and Teagan Tinsley; siblings Tricia Crockett (Sam) and Dan Tinsley (Pam), and many relatives, friends and business associates.  
 
A celebration of life will be held April 3, 1-4 p.m., at Henmick’s Farm and Brewery, 4380 N. Old State Rd., Delaware, Ohio.  
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
