Waregem, Belgium-based textile and sewn covers supplier BekaertDeslee has launched Dream+, a textile finishing technology that integrates biodegradable microcapsules into mattress fabrics and pillow covers.
“With Dream+ we are redefining sleep wellness,” said Veerle Van Wassenhove, vice president of technology and innovation. “This innovation empowers people to improve their rest naturally, with scientifically proven results. It’s a breakthrough not just in mattress textiles but in how we think about sleep itself.”
According to a news release, the microcapsules are infused with an upcycled Australian tea tree extract, a natural compound shown to stimulate the body’s production of melatonin, which supports natural sleep rhythms. As sleepers move, the microcapsules embedded in the fabric release odorless, active melatonin molecules that are absorbed through inhalation.

In a 30-day controlled clinical study with 33 participants experiencing sleep issues, Dream+ demonstrated significant improvements in overall sleep, with no adverse effects reported. Using a standardized protocol under the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and a quality-of-life assessment, the study showed improvements across every sleep metric: sleep quality improved by 47%, sleep efficiency increased by 64%, time to fall asleep improved by 46%, and daytime dysfunction decreased by 56%, the news release said
“Sleep deprivation is a global challenge, and Dream+ shows that innovation in everyday products can deliver real, measurable benefits for millions of people,” said Kim Pint, head of product management.
To coincide with the launch, BekaertDeslee is releasing a comprehensive white paper: “Revolutionizing Sleep: The Future of Sleep Wellness.” The report details the science behind Dream+, the global sleep crisis, and the clinical data proving its benefits.
