Mattress manufacturer and licensing group King Koil Mattress Co. has turned to industry executive Chris Taheny to serve as senior vice president of new business development, a new position for the Avondale, Arizona-based brand. He will report to CEO David Binke.
According to a news release, Taheny has spent more than a decade in the sleep products industry, most recently as senior vice president of sales for DreamFit, a position he held for the past three years. In that role, he expanded the number of retailers carrying the company’s products and advised retailers åhow to attach more accessory sales to tickets.
Prior to that position, he was with Protect-A-Bed for eight years, rising from sales trainer to regional and then national sales manager. He also served as sales director for SureFit Home Décor and Hollander Sleep Products.
“Chris is one of the hardest-working, well-respected sales executives in our industry. He brings an enormous amount of experience and energy to our sales organization that we know will benefit our dealers,” Binke said. “We are excited to have him on our team, working with our leadership team and our customers.”
“The King Koil leadership team, led by David Binke, is one of the most dynamic and effective in our industry. They have taken a brand to new luxury heights and I look forward to contributing my efforts to further grow and expand the business,” Taheny said.
According to Binke, there is a tremendous growth opportunity for King Koil in the industry, and the company needed a sales leader with strong contacts and management skills to scale success in the future.
Taheny received his bachelor’s degree from Lewis University, where he majored in organizational leadership. He resides with his family in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the news release said.
