King Koil Promotes 3 Executives

Avondale, Arizona-based mattress manufacturer and licensing group King Koil has promoted three veteran executives to expanded roles. Over the past six years, the brand has grown dramatically — the expansion of roles is designed to enhance its service to its retail partners and support its growing national sales team.

According to a news release, longtime executive David Long was promoted to chief innovation officer and executive vice president of national sales. Doug Kinde, senior vice president of national accounts, now reports to Long. Chris Taheny, who joined the company earlier this year as senior vice president of new business development, adds responsibilities for overseeing sales activities in the South and Midwest. Jacob Bell is now vice president of sales for the western region.

“We have an amazing team of experienced and dedicated leaders who in their expanded roles will have the ability to offer more help to our retail partners and sales associates as a result of these changes,” said King Koil CEO David Binke. “Our brand has seen such strong growth over the past six years that I felt we needed to enhance our sales management organization so we could more effectively support our vision for the next six.”

Long joined King Koil six years ago shortly after the arrival of Binke, as executive vice president of innovation and marketing. The pair worked together for many years at E.S. Kluft & Company, where Long spent 14 years as head of product development and marketing, and Binke was CEO. He began his career in the mattress industry as a sales representative at what is now Serta Simmons Bedding, rising to vice president of national accounts over a 16-year stint with the Simmons brand.

Taheny joined King Koil earlier this year from DreamFit, where he was senior vice president of sales. Prior to that position, he was with Protect-A-Bed for eight years, rising from sales trainer to regional and then national sales manager. Earlier in his career, he was senior director of sales for Hollander Sleep Products.

Bell has been with King Koil for the past four years as a sales manager with responsibilities in what was then its Mountain West region. Previously, he was with Simmons/Serta Bedding, starting as a retail sales specialist and rising to strategic account manager. Earlier in his career, he was operations manager for Vivint Smart
