Hi, it’s Beth English with BedTimes and Sleep Savvy magazines, and I am here today with my friends from Savaré. And we wanted to congratulate you on the 100th anniversary this year. What kinds of things are you doing to celebrate?
Pietro Savaré
We started with a few celebrations on January 24th, which is the actual anniversary date. And we’re lucky now that it’s January. It’s the beginning of the year, so we have a full year ahead for celebrations. We met at a few events in Italy and the US with family and, you know, employees, including the ones who’ve made history for our company.
So many people have worked for us for the last 20, 30 years.
Beth English
Well, can you tell me a little about the products you have that you’re excited about for this year?
Paolo Campitelli
Yeah. I mean, we, as formulators, always have something. Right? We can just start formulating, and our customers will recognize the quality and consistency of our products. But, you know, sustainability has become a hot topic in the past few years. So we are working a lot on biobased materials. So we have new formulas that we can produce that are already in the market, and we can actually sell you the bio-based formula for, at least, the equivalent.
So you don’t need to requalify the product. You’re just choosing to go on the biobased side. And some of the formulations go from 60% to 100% bio-based. So that’s a very exciting part, right? We’ve been working a lot on these. We also have products that are 100% recyclable with the non-woven. So, you don’t need to worry about separating the non-woven with the adhesive.
Paolo Campitelli
It also helps our recycling friends to separate the metal and the non-woven and recycle them 100 percent.
Beth English
They’re the same kind of.
Paolo Campitelli
Same chemical. Yes.
Beth English
Now, I know that Savaré has a strong sustainability ethic. Can you tell me a little bit more about your sustainability efforts?
Pietro Savaré
Sure. Thanks. I think, you know, with sustainability, we talk a lot about sustainability. It all starts from the corporate commitment. And this is very strong. It’s Savaré. It started years ago, I think, in the 90s, as we developed a pretty unique packaging system that we have. It’s called Safe Melt, and it’s globally patented to be completely water-free as opposed to the other technologies.
And that gives us a strong advantage in terms of our carbon footprint of our operations. It’s about 70% less than traditional packaging. We also recognize that most of our contributions to our customers are an adhesive, as an enabler of their initiative. So we’re developing products that, you know, can facilitate the recycling and disassembly of the products at the end of their lifecycle.
Pietro Savaré
But it can also bond effectively on natural substrates and newer substrates where the adhesive typically has some more bonding challenges. We want to ensure that our customers are not limited by our products or are enabled by our products and their sustainability goals.
Beth English
So great to talk to you guys. Thank you very much.
Paolo Campitelli
Thank you. Thank you.
