Garnand Fine Furniture Going Out of Business After 116 Years

NEWS RELEASE

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (October 22, 2026) — Garnand Fine Furniture, a family-owned and operated retailer with a history spanning 116 years, will close its doors permanently at the conclusion of its final sale.

Husband and wife owners Ramona and Robert James have partnered with leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP), to manage the final chapter of the longtime retailer’s operations.

“Furniture retail looked very different when Garnand’s story began 116 years ago, and the fact that this family business continued serving customers through more than a century of change is remarkable,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP. “We are honored to help give the Norris family a strong finish to an extraordinary run.”

Founded in 1910, Garnand Fine Furniture was built upon three values: hard work, integrity,

and a genuine desire to help people create beautiful, functional homes. Dennis and Patricia Norris bought the business in 1978 and worked with their three children – Renee Longpine, Rene Norris and Ramona James to grow their family-owned business into a premiere destination for whole-home furnishings.

Dennis Norris was a respected figure in the home furnishings industry and served on the board of the National Home Furnishings Association. He transferred ownership of the company to his daughter, Ramona, in 1989. Together with her husband and siblings, Ramona continued her parents’ legacy of exceptional customer service and community involvement, supporting numerous local and national charities. Ramona and Robert plan to retire following the final liquidation sale.

The Norris family expresses their gratitude for the generations of customers, employees and industry partners who supported the business. They also credit the Garnand Fine Furniture employees, past and present, with helping sustain the business for more than a century, along with their manufacturing partners whose craftsmanship, products and support allowed the company to serve customers throughout the region.

The final sale is now underway at Garnand Fine Furniture and will continue until all inventory is sold. For more information, visit www.garnandfurniture.com.
