NEWS RELEASE

HOUSTON, Texas (June 2, 2026) — Noël Furniture is going out of business after a half century, marking the end of an era for one of the largest and most respected high-end furniture retailers in the country. The closure follows a contract and subsequent sale of its highly desirable Houston property. The store will begin its liquidation sale this week.
Since 1976, Noël Furniture has been a premier destination for quality furniture and design services and was at one time among the world’s largest dealers for iconic luxury brands such as Marge Carson and Christopher Guy. Owner Tod Noël dedicated his life to Noël Furniture, creating a company known for its refined aesthetic and meticulous presentation. The store has served as a source of inspiration for manufacturers, designers and other luxury retailers across the industry for 50 years. While there were opportunities to expand to other markets over the years, Noël remained committed to preserving the singular experience and uncompromising standards that made the Houston showroom unique across the luxury furnishings retail landscape.
Noël has partnered with leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to oversee the company’s final sale event.
“The level of discipline and excellence Tod maintained over five decades is extraordinary,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP. “We’re honored to help bring a respectful close to one of the industry’s most admired luxury retailers.”
With an instinctive eye for clean, sophisticated design, Noël earned widespread respect throughout the home furnishings industry and worked on projects for celebrities, professional athletes and other high-profile clientele throughout his career. He has also remained deeply connected to the Houston community through ongoing support of local charitable organizations such as St. Jude, American Heart Association, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, and Peach Outreach. Noel has expressed interest in pursuing smaller, design-focused business ventures after the successful final closing of his furniture retail business. Farewell to a Houston icon.
