Every month, I have the opportunity to work on a lot of meaningful projects at ISPA. But one of my absolute favorites—the one that consistently reminds me why our industry matters—is leading the Better Sleep Council (BSC). Why? Because at its core, the BSC exists to help people live better, healthier, happier lives. And let’s be real: Everything is better when you’re well-rested. You work better, think more clearly, handle stress like a champ. You even become significantly more pleasant to be around (you know it’s true).
April showers might bring May flowers—but what really matters is that May brings better sleep. May is Better Sleep Month: Our opportunity to remind the world—and our industry—that sleep deserves to be a priority, not something people squeeze into the end of an already packed day.
We all know the truth: Great sleep starts with what you’re sleeping on. Sleep is the foundation of physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall quality of life—and a mattress is the foundation for that sleep.
When consumers choose better sleep, they choose better living—and retailers help guide them there. That’s why the role you play on the sales floor, in your communities, and across your digital channels matters more than ever.
You’re not simply selling a mattress. You’re helping shape someone’s Tuesday morning, their 3 p.m. meeting, their ability to approach the day with patience and optimism. In many ways, you’re helping people become the best version of themselves—one night of great sleep at a time.
And the Better Sleep Council is here to help make that easier.
