The Arkansas Homefurnishings Association — which boasts more than 500 retail and associate members — has appointed Steve Johnson, owner of Royal Mattress Center in Van Buren, Arkansas, to its board of directors.
The association has supported and protected manufacturers and retailers within the state of Arkansas since 1929. The multifaceted organization works with legislators to prevent unfair taxation, hosts networking events to foster relationships between its members and helps consult on members’ businesses as needed, making it a critical part of not only Arkansas’ sleep products industry but the industry at large.
Johnson will join 10 other board members and five ex-officio directors. He brings 25 years of entrepreneurial and sleep products experience to the board, having founded his company, Royal Mattress Center in 1998 with just eight models in stock. Since then, Johnson has grown the company to more than twice its original size, curated an expansive inventory to fit customers’ various budgets and serves the areas of western Arkansas, Oklahoma and beyond.
“We welcome Steve to the Arkansas Homefurnishings Association board. The association strives to provide our members with options and services that better each member’s business. This begins with having a strong and informed board,” said Chris Gipson, president of the board. “Steve’s vast knowledge and background in the furniture industry will make him an excellent addition to our board.”
