Members of the close-knit bedding industry (no pun intended) often come together to support noble causes, like Relief Bed International’s recent donation of beds to victims of the Maui wildfire, the annual Seena Magowitz fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research and the Ante4autism poker tournament for autism. Last week, the industry rallied around Rick’s Golf Day.

The Lava family — Adam Lava, and his two sisters, Cheri Laser Greenspan and Dr. Susan Coleman — founded Rick’s Golf Day in 1994 in honor of their late father and donate all proceeds to the American Diabetes Association. This year’s event took place Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course just outside Chicago.

“The event keeps our commitment to this important cause going strong, all while paying tribute to our beloved dad’s memory,” said Greenspan, event organizer. “This year marked our 29th anniversary, and we’re thrilled to add that we’ve had 29 years of no rainouts. We’re looking forward to what the next year brings”.

The day of fun — and fundraising — brought together numerous industry members and the International Sleep Products Association as participants and sponsors. Attendees kicked off the day with a casual breakfast and played the front nine before stopping for lunch at the turn. After finishing the course, all participants gathered for a celebratory dinner where the Lava family recognized the winning team and gave shoutouts for highlights from the day’s play, including longest drive and closest-to-the-pin.
